Lesson 1: Finding A Topic
The first lesson will be all about you and how to come up with a compelling story for your first song. We will help you to find out what stories you want to tell – what truly represents you. This is the core of a great song!

We will look at examples of previous hits, define a theme and point of view, and discuss what story lines appeal to a broad audience.

Lesson 2: Song Structure
Now that we have a topic for your first song, it's time to look at the structure we will put the words and music to. During this lesson, we will look at some of the most common song structures in modern songwriting. How many verses? Where to place the chorus? Do we really need a bridge?

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to tell your story in a structured way. It's not a song yet, but we'll be closer!

Lesson 3: Syllabus Count
The story is written, but it doesn't yet look like lyrics of a song. In this next lesson, we’ll dive deeper into songwriting techniques and look at the syllabus in each line of lyrics. This lesson is essential to creating a flow and making sure the music and words line up correctly.

Your story will now be further compressed and will start looking more and more like the lyrics of a song.

Lesson 4: Rhyme Pattern
We are nearly there. Your story is in the right format but something is still missing: Rhymes. In this next lesson, you will learn all about different rhyme patterns. You will learn how to keep lyrics interesting, captivating, and memorable.

Your story is now a finished set of song lyrics. It's still not yet a song, but half of the work is done!

Lesson 5: Chord Progression
With the words in place, we can now focus on building the music around your story. In this lesson, you will learn about the most common chord progressions. This will explain how you can make songs sound happy, sad, dramatic, etc.

At the end of this lesson, your song will nearly sound finished, but some key parts are still missing…

Lesson 6: Melody
With the words following a structure, and a chord progression now in place, it's time to find the vocal melody. In this lesson, you will learn what makes a hit a hit; how to write a catchy hook and make your song stand out from the rest.

By the end of this lesson, you should have the foundation of your song.
Lesson 7: Demo Recording
There isn't much sense in writing a song and not being able to share it with friends and family, as well as producers if your aim is to polish it for the big stage. This lesson will teach you best practices about creating demo recordings, how to record rough demos at home, plus we’ll show you some tips and tricks to use, even if you don't play an instrument.

After this lesson, you will have completed your very first song. Congratulations!

Lesson 8: Music Business
With your demo proudly in hand, where do you go next? This last lesson will give you an overview of the songwriting and music business, including what is needed to place songs with artists and gain sync opportunities, as well as where to find them.

After this lesson, you should have a basic understanding of what's next and make a decision if songwriting is for you.
